MAYERS, EARL HENRY SR., 72, National Pike East, Grindstone R.D.#1, died Aug. 13, 1976 in Brownsville General Hospital. He was born June 9, 1904 in Bradenville, PA, a son of the late WILLIAM and MINNIE GREGOR MAYERS. He was a retired miner of the Banning Mine, Republic Steel Corp., and a member of the UMWA, Banning Local. He was a member of the Braznell Christian Missionary and Alliance Church. Survivors include his wife, MRS. MYRTLE HASSON MAYERS; a daughter, MRS. SHIRLEY ORBASH, three sons, WILLIAM, EARL H. JR, and DANIEL; six grandchildren, SANDRA and SHERRY ORBASH, LINDA and BRENDA MAYERS, and CARRIE ANN and LORI MAYERS; four brothers, RICHARD, LESTER, EDWIN, and WALTER; three sisters, MRS. AGNES SWIFT, MRS. VIOLET ADAMSON and MRS. RUTH PADUCH. Burial in LaFayette Memorial Park under the direction of the J.W. Kisinger Funeral Home, Brownsville. DAVIS, S. EARL, 82, of 302 Bull Run Road, Brownsville, died Aug. 7, 1976 in his home. He was born August 23, 1893 in Khedive, the son of EZRA H. and MARY ANN WEAVER DAVIS and had been a resident of Brownsville for 62 years. He was a retired carpenter, formerly employed by the Brownsville Construction Co. He was a trustee and elder of the Brownsville Central Presbyterian Church. He served in the Army during WWI. He was a charter member of the Carpenters Local Union No. 1044, Charleroi; IOOF Lodge 51, Brownsville of which he was a fifty years member and a past Noble Grand; and a past master of Hopewell Grange No. 1114. Survivors include his wife, RUTH LEE SPRINGER DAVIS, a daughter, MRS. SARA JEAN EMERY, two sons, WILBUR and SAMUEL N.; two sisters, MRS. SAMUEL SPROAT and MRS. ELIZABETH MORRIS. Three brothers, J. ROY DAVIS, ANDREW H. DAVIS and BLAINE G. DAVIS; two sisters, MRS. ROSE GUSEMAN and MRS. LENORE CRAFT are deceased. AUG. 4, 1976, Kiwanis Project, The Kiwanis Club of Brownsville recently presented a check of 500.00 to the obstetrics department of Brownsville General Hospital. Present for the presentation were, HAROLD SEATON, DR. HAROLD L. WILT, RUBIN SABATINI, CASIMER WIECZOREK, DR. THOMAS E. PARK, WILLIAM C. WESTCOAT, JOSEPH HALL, and DR. MICHAEL SNYDER. HATFIELD, MRS. ALICE S., 84, 700 Church St., Brownsville died Aug. 30, 1976 in Brownsville General Hospital. She was born June 10, 1892 in Brownsville, the daughter of the late SAMUEL S. and MARTHA OLIVE BLAIR STEELE. She was appointed tax collector in 1948 to fill the vacancy created in the office by the death of her husband, ELI H. HATFIELD. In 1949, she was elected to the office and served for four additional terms until 1965. She was a graduate of South Brownsville High School and California State Teachers College in 1910. She taught as an elementary teacher for 9 years in the South Brownsville School District until her marriage in 1919. She was a member of the South Brownsville Methodist Church, and was a former adult superintendent of the church. She was a former trustee of the Brownsville Free Public Library, former chairman of the Brownsville Republican Women, member of the Brownsville Reading Circle, the Great Meadows Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and the Brownsville Historical Society. Survivors include two daughters, MRS. ROBERT E. TOWNSEND and MRS. CHARLES J. TOWNS; two sons, EDWIN S. and JAMES N. and a sister, MRS. MARY CLAYBAUGH. A sister, MISS SARA E. STEELE, died in 1971. Burial in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, under the direction of the Homer L. Crawford Funeral Home, Brownsville. SOUTH BROWNSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1926, held its 50th reunion at the Mt. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, MRS. MARY JANE WARNE and MRS. MARIE DONALDSON; and a sister, MRS. JEAN GELDER. Three brothers, FLINT GREGG, AUBREY GREGG, and HARRY GREGG; and a sister, MRS. ELLA BURD are deceased.
