Researching my early Reed ancestors in Fayette County has not been an easy job. In the census of 1790, there are 3 Reed families listed, those of James Reed, Thomas Reed and William Reed. My ancestor was James Reed and research shows that two of his children were born in Fayette County-Sarah Reed in 1793 and Adonijah Reed in 1794. We think it is possible that James Reed's wife was Elizabeth Peacock, daughter of Adonijah Peacock, Burlington County, New Jersey. Is anyone else researching Reeds in Fayette County, and if you are, do any of these 3 Reed families fit into your family and do you have info on any of them? It isn't easy to sort out the Reeds, there are lots and lots of them-especially with the given name of James. Thanks, Doris Reed Forsyth
