    3. Jesse PROVANCE, of Geneva, Pa., died Wednesday, March 31, 1897, at 11 o'clock, after a lingering illness. The deceased was born August 14, 1818, on the farm known in by gone years as the "Provance Bottoms". His father was David PROVANCE. With the exception of Elisha PROVANCE, a half brother, who lives in West Virginia, the deceased was the last son of a numerous family. He was identified in early days with the keel boat trade from this point to Pittsburgh and was captain and pilot on the Globe, the first steamboat that ever went as far as Fairmont, West Virginia, sometime in the early 50's(1850's) Unrelated to me. Just sharing a resource. Edward DUNLEVY
