August S. TASSONE, 73, of Uniontown, Pa., and formerly of Republic, Pa., passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in UPMC, Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Republic, Pa., a son of the late Angelo and Maria Tassone. August was a member of St. Therese Church, Uniontown, and a former member of Holy Rosary Church, Republic, Pa., where he was a member of the church choir. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and retired from the Civil Service Department in Washington, D.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carmel, Anthony, Paul, Angelo Jr., and George TASSONE. Surviving are a sister, Theresa Evans, of Shelby Township, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Tassone, of Lynchburg, Va., and Joanne Tassone, of Republic, Pa.; nephews, David, Rick, Carmel and Greg TASSONE and Bill Evans; nieces, Gloria, Tina, Lisa, Gina and Angie; great-nieces, Melanie, Emily and the love of his wife, Amanda; and a Godson, Joshua. Friends will be received I the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., Legion Street, Republic, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 9:30 a.m., when a prayer service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m., in Holy Rosary Church, Main Street, Republic, Pa., with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Bugay as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic, Pa.
