Louis Edward "Ed" Shipley, 92, of Elizabeth Township, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, in UPMC- McKeesport Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1911, in Bidwell and was the son of the late Samuel K. and Mary Julia Hayes Shipley. He was a member of the Greenock United Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association. He served in the Marine Corps from 1934 to 1938 aboard the USS Idaho. He was a retired inspector and guard for the former USX-National Tube, Christy Parks Works and Moody Engineering Co., Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Schmidt Shipley and nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel, Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. David S. Lake officiating. Entombment will follow at the Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.
