Dear Nancy, I found a James A. Garfield Bowers in the World War I Draft Cards. At that time he lived in Indian Head, Fayette County. He was born Sept. 9, 1883. He was a mine foreman at Harvard Coal Co. at Davistown, Fayette County. His nearest relative was Mrs. Ella Bowers of Indian Head. He was of medium height and medium build. He had gray eyes and light brown hair. The card was signed by H. R. Adams-Sept 12-1918. There is also a Garfield Bowers, age 26 in the 1910 PA Miracode Index, Fayette County. His wife is Ella, age 20, daughter Mary, age 3, Daughter Hazel NR, and Samuel Shipley, not related, age 16 living with Garfield Bowers. Even though this doesn't tell you where he went from there, I hope this helps a little. Thank you Dawne, Now I know just a little more about my grandfather. This is exciting, I'm sorry I didn't start asking all these questions earlier. I came home from work and found all this great stuff.
