John Howard BROOKS, 72, of Connellsville, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Star Junction, Pa., a son of the late William Curtis and Blanche Edna PRITTS BROOKS. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a military police officer with the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, John worked as a construction worker for both Garlick and Shallenberger Construction companies. He is survived by his lifelong soulmate, Nancy ALBERT Miller, of Connellsville; two daughters, Roxanne Hatter and her husband, Kenny, and Wanda Burkholder and her husband, Mark, all of Connellsville; a brother, Glenn BROOKS and his wife, Karen, of Connellsville; a sister, Lillian Doppelheuer, of Kentucky; and two stepsons, Ed and Tom Osborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Robert BROOKS, Donald David BROOKS; and a sister, Hilda May BROOKS Beal DeWitt. Friends will be received today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, Pa., where a blessing service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Terry Hercik officiating. Interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery.
