Peabody, Kansas (edited) 1936 EMMA Caroline LECKEY was the daughter of William and Elizabeth LECKEY, one of a large family of children and the last to depart this life. Born Sept. 12, 1856, at McClellandtown, PA, she was 80 years, 2 months and 5 days of age. As a young girl, she went with an older sister to Grand Ridge, Ill., where she remained with this sister until her marriage on April 8, 1872 to ELIHU S. JACKSON, in Chicago, Ill. Soon after they came to Marion Co., Kansas where she had 7 children, two passing in infancy. Son Harry died in 1917, husband Elihu Jackson passed away Nov. 5, 1898, leaving her a widow for 38 years. She was a member of United Presbyterian. Survivors are: Mrs. Elizabeth Payne of Wichita, KS, Mrs. Inez Slocombe of Peabody, Mr. Ed Jackson and Miss Mabel Jackson of the home, and two grandsons: John and Robert Slocombe. Note: Elihu Jackson was the son of John Jackson and Harriett Evans Jackson, of Masontown, PA. He was my great-uncle. I do not research the Leckey family, only Jackson and descendants.
