    3. Hello, sometime ago, there was a question about the MOON family, and a suggestion was made to search in Augusta Co. Va. I have a book which lists some pioneers of Old Augusta Co. VA . I found this reference which may help someone, In 1757, there were several "alarms" about Indian raids. In July of that year there was a raid by the Shawnees, and according to the Preston Register, July 25, 1757,"Robert Renick and THOMAS MOON at 'Fork of James River' were killed, and Mrs., Renick and seven children, and a Mrs.Denis were taken prisoners." This was the only MOON listed in the index. Regards, Helen

    3. Helen, I'll bet that is where the 1757 date became associated with George Troutman of Fayette Co and his Indian Attack story. 1757 is now mistakenly thought of as his birth date which was really 1746 as per the Hester-Stough Genealogy. What if the book you are reading there? Are they any mentions of Indian attacks where a Troutman/Trautmann family was involved? I have always wondered if the Troutman family was not living farther West than Fayette when the traditional Indian attack story happened and wondered if or how the Troutman's Retreat land grant in Stewart Twp might fit into the Troutman Indian Attack/Kidnap story. I wish I had seen the tomahawk George passed down before it was stolen from the museum. I have been told it was stone pipe and tomahawk combined with a wooden handle. Given this type of pipe, I wonder if it was not obtained when George reportely went to Crabapple Creek area near Wooster,OH to get his sisters back? Thanks for any leads, Mike Miller On Thursday 15 January 2004 09:37, Helen Della-Volpe wrote: > Hello, sometime ago, there was a question about the MOON family, and a > suggestion was made to search in Augusta Co.
