Joseph F. "Joe" Shaw, 75, of Connellsville, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at his residence. He was born May 19, 1928, in Connellsville, Pa., a son of the late Theodore R. and Ruth M. (Showman) Shaw Joe was a graduate of Connellsville High School, Class of 1946, and Robert Morris College in 1950. He was a veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement, in 1980, he worked as both an agent and enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service, and was a partner of the Shaw & Shaw Accounting Firm. He was a former Controller for the City of Connellsville, and was a former member of the Connellsville Parking Authority. He spent many years "RV" traveling with family all over the United States. Later years, he spent time "RVing" in Dade City, Fla., with his wife. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Darlene M. (Wandel) Shaw, whom he married on June 30, 1951; four children, C. Kim Petko and husband, Joseph of Connellsville, Joseph H. Shaw of Hagerstown, Md., Gretchen L. Burgin of Sterling, Va., and Lori J. Henry and husband, Edward of Normalville; five grandchildren, Jill DeWitt and husband, Roy III of Connellsville, Melissa Booher of Mount Pleasant, Jeffrey Stewart Jr., of Normalville, Adam Burgin of Sterling, Va.; and Edward Henry of Normalville; a great-grandson, Chandler DeWitt; a sister, Jane Lee Hostetler of Mount Pleasant; and nieces and nephews. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Connellsville, Elmer Lodge No. 160 F&AM, Connellsville Royal Arch Chapter No. 283-Past High Priest, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Council Chapter Consistory Valley of Pittsburgh, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge of Valley of Uniontown, Tall Cedars of Lebanon No. 152, a life member of Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple Legion of Honor, Syria Temple Arab Patrol, Mid-Atlantic Shrine Recreational Vehicle Camping Association, Syria RV Club, Three Rivers Hillbilly Clan No. 53, Past Association Grand Guardian of Job's Daughters of PA, life member of Elks Lodge No. 503, a 53-year member, life member of V.F.W. Walter E. Brown Post No. 21, Independent Slovak Citizens Club of Connellsville, Loyal Order of Moose No. 16, and Wally Byam Caravan Club. He was a former member of the Inter Club Council-Past President, Order of Eastern Star, Lions Club of Connellsville, and the International Order of Odd Fellows. Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday from 2 to 9 p.m., in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a blessing will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m., in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Philip Ramstad officiating. Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by the V.F.W Post No. 21 and American Legion Posts 301 & 762. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Restoration Fund, 120 East Fairview Ave., Connellsville, PA 15425.
