Andrew J. HOVANEC, 67, of Mount Pleasant, R.D. 6, died Sunday at Frick Community Health Center, Mount Pleasant. He was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Mount Sterling, Pa., a son of the late Andrew and Margaret Panik Hovanec. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Westmoreland County Division of Roads and Parks as supervisor. Up until his death he was an employee of McDonald's at New Stanton on the turnpike. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post #446, Mount Pleasant. He is survived by his wife, Mildred V. Akins Sager Hovanec; three sons, Charles Hovanec of Erie, Pa., Stanley Hovanec of Miss., and Ronald Sager of South Greensburg; a daughter, Mrs. John (Donna) Zemba of Mount Pleasant, R.D. 6; three brothers, Richard Hovanec of Bonita Springs, Fla., Joseph Hovanec of Bel Air, Md., and Charles Hovanec of Chatham, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Tachler of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Carylin Balchak of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Eleanor Jewett of Lincoln, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
