Lawrence Playford PROVENCE, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at his home in Sun City, Calif. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Provence, of Masontown, Pa. Mr. Provence was a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University. From 1943 to April 1946, he was an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps, including his last assignment in Wiesbaden, Germany. Moving to California in 1963, he was employed by Hughes Aircraft until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. A 50-year Mason, he was Past Master of the Norwalk, California Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Hope; two daughters, Kimberly (Mrs. Dave Keys) of Anaheim, Calif., and their sons, Ryan and Kevin and Beverly (Mrs. Skip Allen) of LaMirada, Calif., and their son, Jacob and his two daughters, Kaylynn and Raegan. Mr. Provence's only granddaughter is Shannon Allen. Also surviving are his twin Sister, Doris (Mrs. Charles Speggen) of Masontown, and his older brother, Robert of Matthews, N.C.
