Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WdB.2ACI/3340.1 Message Board Post: April, I have only one Burleigh in my records: 1900 census, Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co. PA ED 73, page 23A Both parents were born in Scotland and immigrated 1880. The children were born PA. Robert Burleigh 42 b Aug 1847 Agnes, wife 41 b 1858 had 8 children 7 living 1880 children: Robert Jr. b 1882 18 coal miner Lillie b 1884 16 (married Harry Morris and lived in Fla) James b Mar 1886 *Thomas 21 b July 1888 11 married Levade Mitchell who died in childbirth and is buried in Connellsville, PA Peter b June 1892 8 John b May 1894 6 Agnes b May 1899 1 Since there is a gap in the children's ages after John, I'm assuming the eighth child was born between him and Agnes. The Pa Miracode index 1910 Westmoreland, Pa shows the children Thomas, Peter, and John born in Scotland and Agnes in PA. Thomas became Wire Chief of the Telephone Company. He married Nevada E. Mitchell daughter of Samuel Chaflain Mitchell and Mary Pierce/Brownfield. They lived at 246 Fairview Ave in Connelsville, Fayette County, PA. Thomas and "Vade" had a child, Clifford born 1918. When Levada died, Thomas took Clifford to Florida where he was raised by Harry Morris and wife, Lillie (Thomas' sister and husband) The person who helped me find all of this said she also found a Robert Burley on Familysearch.org, birthdate 22 Aug 1857 in Lesmahagow, Lanark, Scotland whose mother is identified as Elizabeth Burley. She can not documented a connection between the Robert Burley from Scotland and the one who immigrated to US in 1880........Esther
