Sorry to hear some of you are experiencing alot of problems. I do have one favor though - this mailing list was not intended to discuss all this stuff. I signed on this morning to find another 14 messages pertaining to nothing but this blocking thing. I do not want to unsubsribe as I enjoy all the genealogy & historical stuff but ...please find some other route to discuss this. -----Original Message----- From: Sunflower <jlworendorff@copper.net> To: PAFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com <PAFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, January 30, 2004 9:36 PM Subject: RE: [PAFAY] AOL blocking? 3. Well I am not a listmom, but I am happy to report that you did make it through on the list to my Copper.net ISP! However, there are still a good many other list still having problems with AOL, one that comes to mind is the Franklin County List in Ohio. I believe it is AOL's problem in how they are processing bulk mailings through Spam filters. Perhaps AOL themselves are not the problem....but their customers e-mail configuration options for Spam Gaurd are not set appropriately. Could be that AOL might need to provide information on configuring e-mail options when using a Spam Gaurd program ....Just a guess for the following reason. My ISP just let us all know Spam Gaurd was there....how great it was...with no instructions, until the issue with Rootsweb came up. I had problems then with all my Rootsweb Lists. However, once my ISP sent out instructions on how to configured the e-mail options when using the Spam Gaurd program, things went fine from there. 2. Hi Bernie, It's hard to say what I have missed. I would have to check the archives for Fayette. I have been getting less but I don't know if it's because of less posts or not getting through. I just chatted with an AOL tech support online. They told me to set my spam blocking preferences to ALLOW mail from all senders. They also filed a report on my behalf and said there was a problem with aol right now and they were working on it. I told them a lot of people were getting frustrated with this. At least they'll know they need to get busy cause they could be losing customers. I changed my settings so I'll watch to see if it gets any better. The only thing now is, am I now unsubscribed to the other mailing lists. I haven't gotten anything at all from the Allegheny, and Washington county lists, but I'm subscribed under another email address still aol. Some people have emailed members off list because of the problems. I hope this is getting through to some of the other aol/Fayette members and it helps. Good luck! I feel like an Island. 2. HI Listers.... AOL is blocking all emails that have the latest virus attached. That would mean that if some of the list are infected we are not receiving mail from them. AND if we are infected our emails are also being intercepted. This has nothing to do with SPAM blocking, I am still getting some mail from green and washington lists. Nothing from Westmoreland, but very seldom get mail on that list anyhow. Maybe this will help Tom In a message dated 1/30/2004 10:50:53 PM US Mountain Standard Time, Checfam@aol.com writes: We are all probably ln trouble with our posts Bernie ==== PAFAYETT Mailing List ==== "There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."

    2. Hi Bernie, Well you must have gotten my last email cause I sent it to the list. I have been getting the Fayette emails for some reason, even though the others have stopped. I don't know if there have been problems with other providers. I think its mostly AOL. I like having spam controls but this is ridiculous! Cindy PS: Sorry to the list for getting off topic.
