    1. Re: [PAFAY] Ludwick Snider- Anyone know him? (Also John Sheaffer)
    2. Lorin Snyder
    3. Hi Ellen, No, I am a descendent of Jacob Schneider (b. 1722) who married Magdalena Bissinger. He died on Catoctin Mountain, in Frederick Co., Md. They were the parents of Ludwick Snyder (b. 1768), lastly of (Lower) Tyrone Twp., Fayette Co., Pa. I'll be happy to correspond regarding the Snyder research. I haven't been currently researching the local Snyders in some time, lately studying Ludwick's ancestors in Germany. Most of my American Snyder materials are boxed up, so I'll have to go back into them and review them a bit. I've been meaning to get back to that, anyway, so it's nice to have further motivation. Along with the Garvers (Ludwick's wife's family), a number of Ludwick's family seem to have at least passed through Fayette County, whether they stayed on or not. His youngest sister Barbara (Snyder) Flack purchased a farm adjacent to his in Bullskin Twp., out near the present-day country club. His sister Christina (Snyder) Gallentine followed him to (Lower) Tyrone Twp. Sister Elizabeth (Snyder) Ridenour Gallentine also moved briefly with him to Bullskin Twp., but moved on to neighboring Saltlick Twp. Hos brother Daniel Snyder seems to have passed through Bullskin Twp. for just a year or so, but he bought a farm there and resold it when he left to Ludwick's brother-in-law. Brother Abraham Snyder might have been the man by that name who was one of the earliest residents of Connellsville Borough. There are a few possibilities of men by his eldest brothers' names, John Snyder and Jacob Snyder, that research suggests could be them, but nothing conclusive. John was ten years older than Ludwick, and by the time Ludwick was building up his farm in Bullskin John's eldest children may have been grown and married and following right along with. Ludwick's father Jacob came to America with his brother Michael Schneider (b. 1721). I know very little of Michael or his family, other than that he moved along with Jacob throught his travels, from Germany, to Pa. to Md. Some Snyders of the area may very well be Michael's sons. Well, that's a bit of an off-the-top-of-my-head synopsis . . .
