This is a message I just read that was posted by Ellen Ballas, I have made no comments about the obits posted here on the list, HOWEVER I FEEL IT GREAT THAT THEY ARE BEING POSTED! However this person Ellen Ballas has gone to far in posting this message and making comments toward me on this list! Ellen Ballas need to remove herself from this list, if she can't take the heat in the kitchen, meaning the obits should stay and Ellen Balls should leave! To everyone here on this list, I just got on line after working 16 hours and now I find more usless messages from Ellen Ballas on this list! First of all the obits are very helpful, I have cut and pasted more obits into my files due to the work that Ed has done by posting the obits on the list. Agan the obits are very helpful! And if you look at what is being posted on this list, messages that have nothing to do with family research, just someone cutting down people (Meaning Ellen Ballas) This list was intended to share information, not make it a busybody list! If Ellen Ballas feels the way she does then she should REMOVE HERSELF FROM THE LIST, and leave people alone, leave people have their right to make comments. Indivduals who have made comments about obits on this list, only one person directed comments toward me, and I wasn't in this loop of comments about obits, That person agan was Ellen Ballas. Agan maybe Ellen Ballas needs to remove herself from the list, since she cant seem to keep her mind on research, she has to run off track attacking people and and every chance she can. This list is for people who are doing family research! Something that Ellen Ballas can't seem to remember! As weeks go by there is no rude comments on this list and then there is Ellen Ballas with her comments. Ellen Ballas why don't you leave the list, you have stated you would, then do it, Maybe you can then spend your time with your grandchildren! John Yanik PS Ellen don't bother to reply to this message!
Hello List, I have an old old picture of 4 men and a young child that I would like for someone to look at to see if they can identify the location of the picture. It looks to be a studio but there are no names or dates on the photo. It is on the hard board backing that was used back in the 1800's. If you are familiar with old studio's and old photographs and would not mind taking a look at it, I would be most grateful. Jo Gottman
Hello All, My McGOWAN & DULL family lived in Fayette City& washington TWP in the early 1900's anyone have any good sites to search for marriages or land records, wills , military records if anyone has books for lookups would appreciate the help, Sherry
Have those that are complaining about full mailboxes due to multiple postings considered unsubscribing to list mode and re-subscribing in digest mode? This way you only have one email a day and after opening it and reading the subject line if you don't see a name that you are interested in then you can delete one message instead of 20. I personally am very interested in the obits since I do not live in that area. Karen Kessler Cottrill WV Kessler/Kesler/Keslar Family Historian

C,mon people..."where is the love?" You're making me sad and turning perhaps the youngest person on this list cynical. Can't we please stop the bickering and get back to helping one another find our ancestors? Susan
Dear Listers, I thought I'd mention a resource that many of the younger researches may never have heard about. Back around the end of the 1940's a simple magazine type of issue was created by a lady named Frances Strong Helman who was the Editor of it. The copyright was in her name & Beulah Heffelfinger. All rigths reserved. Address: 1082 Maple Street, Indiana, PA It was issued Bi-Monthly. I believe the later editions were indexed. This lady has been gone a long time now but there is an Indiana County Historical Society & they most likely have all the issues. Of course, they would charge for research, but I would imagine that one might go there to do research if they are lucky enough to be able to get that way. The point is that good records for research was placed in these issues for many different counties & let's face it. The people who wound up in Fayette County didn't parachutte in! You will find wills, tax records, immigrants material, queries etc. etc. in these issues for a number of diffent PA counties early. Therefore, if you need earlier material it's another source to look into. You might check the PA Room in Uniontown Library to see if they have any of the copies or someone on here may have run across them. Dear Listers: There is more than one Ellen on this list. When I sign my name on here it is done this way. Ellen (ETHS) There is another Ellen on this list that just uses. Ellen Now to clear this matter up. I have NOT Complained about the obits being on this list at all. I did state that we needed to Add More Kinds Of Resources To This List Besides Obits. What the heck is wrong with that. More resources, more lineage help. Hope this clears that up once and for all. Besides, Ed said he wanted an end to this obit discussion. I'd say it's about time too. It might be an idea to keep posting the obits to the list, but do them in batches, much as Hannah does with her Scrapbook excerpts. If she itemized each clipping with a separate posting, it too would get cumbersome. She manages to put all surname mentions in the subject header for easy access. No one misses any data, and the mailbox volume is reduced. I for one would hate to miss something of use to me that I'd otherwise never see. I know there are many listers who value the obits, and posting them does take a lot of effort. My own mailbox capacity is pretty big, and deleting is certainly not a problem, but there are some listers whose boxes can only take but so much. Seems like a way that would please most folks. A lot of egos seem to be getting bruised on this list, and that's not the usual focus of Rootsweb mailing lists. The level of "flaming" is getting out of hand. David in Richmond
