Sometimes you can add an occupation as part of another event, as well - I will use the description part of a Census event, for instance, to include the comment 'in his parents household' or ' as a merchant and head of household' to make an easily-visible summary. The info is buried in the exact text for the source citation, as well, but using the description portion of the event makes a quick reference on an individual summary or family group sheet.
