    3. A couple of more questions on the same topic if I may as I'm thinking of buying one. I have 5 different genealogies. How would I put them all on one memory stick-how would they be separated? Does your file get compressed like it does when you backup to a floppy? 3. The 5 genealogies I assume are 5 different PAF files. That translates into 5 different backup files. As the files have different names, the backups also have corresponding, different names. Example: You have Burns, Smith, Jones, Brown, and Roberts files. The actual files are named Burns.paf, Smith.paf, Jones.paf, etc. The Backup files will be Burns.zip, Smith.zip, etc. On the memory stick (or floppy, hard drive, CD, etc) they will still stay as individual files. The compression happens as the backup is created, and the medium it is stored on makes no difference. 3. John, The flash thingies (I call them jump drives) can be up to 1 gigabyte, and maybe more now. To keep you files separate, you can use different folders for each area you are researching. When plugged in, they look just like another drive and you manage the files there the same way you do on floppies or your hard drive. A gigabite will hold a LOT of PAF files and much research. :-) Walt ----- Original Message ----- From: "john burns" <johnburns@telus.net> To: <PAF-5-USERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2005 6:26 PM Subject: Re: [PAF-5] Back up Question >A couple of more questions on the same topic if I may as I'm thinking of > buying one.
