    3. this is what I did. first for your information I had a number of "Other Events" that I had created that were NOT part of the default events offered by PAF. They had all been classed as "confidential". I also had numerous notes and multimedia attached to the original file. I exported the file and UNCHECKED Notes; Sources; Multimedia; Contact Information; confidential Data; Full Information on Living. I left only the Names on Living and Submitter CHECKED. I then exported ALL persons and gave it a name of BasicOnly. Close your real database and on File at menu click on NEW then import the BasicOnly gedcom. don't make the mistake I did and have your "real" database open or you will duplicate all your entries. That is a real headache unless you have PAF Insight. I confirmed that all the unwanted data was gone except for "other events" that are offered by default in PAF like Occupation that I had also been using. Then when you want your "real" database close the BasicOnly and return to it. Good luck! On the Export screen you can select earlier versions of PAF, such as 2.3.1 and then on the right hand side UNcheck all the Other items. I believe this gives you what you are looking for. I have checked the help file and I have found the way to export data WITHOUT notes and sources, and successfully done that. But then found that it still includes all the 'extra' events which show on the 'edit individual' screen, such as 'Nickname', 'Also Known As', as well as 'Physical Description', 'Cause of Death', etc. (when this info exists in those fields of course) But I am interested in creating only the most basic GedCom with Birth date/place, Death date/place, Burial date/place, and Marriage date/place for each individual (intent is to include Spouse as well). I surmise I could do an export to a new GedCom, create a new PAF file, import that new GedCom then manually delete all that extra unwanted info for each individual, then save that, or save as another name, and then do another new GedCom Export from that stripped down file. This seems cumbersome and I'm wondering if there is a means to accomplish this within the program. I did try using filters, but that didn't seem to get me where I wanted. Thanks very much in advance, and let me take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE who contributes to this list as I have learned so much from reading all the posts these past couple of years. 3. Hi Gail You said >>don't make the mistake I did and have your "real" database open or you will duplicate all your entries. That is a real headache unless you have PAF Insight.<< While doing this is NOT a good thing -- The problem is MUCH easier to solve since PAF 5 arrived. The easy "fix' is to do a merge/match. on UID and let the PAF automatically merge.
