Hi Listers New to your list but not other mailing lists. I use 5.0 but I have a little problem. I have recently found out that a 3rd gt grandmother is not hooked to the right father. I had her brother as her father but she is in fact a sister to him. His parents are her parents too. I did a match merge for the daughter and aunt same name same birthdate ... which came thru good and I unlinked him as her father. But it still shows her brother as my 3rd gt grandfather and she is still my 3rd gt aunt, unless I bring her up as a mother and then she is my 3rd gt grandmother. Very confusing .. How can I change that so that he shows as a 3rd gt uncle? Hi Georgina, It is assumed that you reran the relationship indicators in the Tools>Preferences>Files> menu. Those relationships are not automatically updated when you make changes to your database. Based on what you have indicated, you have two problems: one with the ancestral line from your 3rd gt grandmother and 3rd gt aunt, and problem with a descendent line from them. What makes the brother your 3rd gt grandfather is not who his parents are, but how you are descended from him. It seems to me that you are a direct descendent of the brother, not the sister. If in fact you are really a direct descendent of the sister, you need to fix whatever problem you have that has the sister not listed as the mother of your 2nd gt grandmother.
