First I enter the entire source citation and attach it to the father (usually to the Individual connection, but if it is the source for the birth date (especially the 1900 census) then I attach it to the Birth entry). Second I copy that entire source citation and attach it to the wife, but there I delete all of the children. Third I attach the same memorized citation to the record for each child, but at each child I erase all of the siblings so that it contains only the husband, wife and that particular child. While this still makes the printed list of source citations long (impressively, I hope), I usually use the option to print only the Title when I make a printed copy of a family group sheet. After all, the purpose of a source citation is to allow another researcher to follow your trail of evidence and then, hopefully, to come to the same conclusion that you did. I am currently engaged in re-researching the records of my ancestors who are Scots. The source citations on the family group sheets that I received from Aunts of mine have greatly facilitated this work. Sadly, even tragically, I have discouvered many, way too many, errors. This includes four of my direct ancestors for whom one, or in one case both, of the recorded parents are incorrect. In the worst case I "lost" 52 of their ancestors. Richard L.
