    3. Hi Jill / Claudia What ever you do don't return your new computer. You don't describe your old computer and it's operating system. The manufacturer's name means nothing. They are all made in Taiwan or China now anyway, even the IBM's. It's the operating system that's important. You are now using a Microsoft Windows XP operating system. All computers made in the last three years are using this operating system so you will not find it any easier changing to a different model computer. If you were using an old DOS system or even the first Windows system it's like driving a 1940's car. You would not take back a 2005 car would you? Gary Templeman has given you the right advice. Call your local or county library, your high school, your county college, your county vocational school and ask them to send you the adult education, or introductory course directories. Some of these schools may even have on line courses available. First, choose an introductory course in Windows, (the operating system) and next select a course in what ever program, (application) you plan to use. Also, click on the start button to bring up the menu where you will find "Help and support" by Microsoft. Here you will find answers to many of your questions. Any new software that you purchase will usually require an up to date computer. If you really need to use 3 1/2 floppies take your computer and have an "A" drive installed but even the CD's will become obsolete in the near future, to be out dated by the no moving parts (Flash Memory) such as is used in all the latest digital cameras. I wonder why you are looking for general computer help with the PAF-5 Users. I see that you are on the cutting edge with PAF genealogy program. Bill Williams
