Speaking of Children being out of order, I was working on a file that had lots of Match/Merge done on it and noted that there were quite a few families with the children out of order. So I wanted to find a systematic way to go through the entire file and check for all the "out-of-order" families. So I ran the Possible Problems report and saved it as a file. Then in MS Word, I resaved the report file as a Word document. I had to get rid of the word wrap problem by replacing all the paragraph/tab combinations with a space and then dumped the entire report into a table within Word. At that point I could sort the table on the error description column which put all the children-out-of-order errors together in the table. I was shocked to find many many more such errors than I expected. So I did the same thing to my own family history file and am embarrassed to admit that there were about 15 pages of these errors. Note that both the father and the mother will show up in the list, so it is only half as many errors as it seems. Also, the report treats date ranges in a way that may not be obvious, but the technique works. I suggest you try this and you too may be surprised. If you need more detailed instructions, I'll be happy to expand my description. Richard Rands
