Good morning fellow PAF users and welcome to a lovely spring day. I seem to be having a bit of trouble making a temple ready, and for the life of me can not figure out the problem or what to do about it. The floppy has been inserted, done the selections, and gone through all the steps to making the temple ready disc to take to the family history center. This last time I made a print out of the names selected as proof (to me) there IS something on the disc. At the FHC the program says "file can not be found". I bring the disc home, bring it up on Word and all my selected names are there. What is going on? Am I neglecting to do something? If so, could some kind soul please advise me what it is? All assistance will be greatly appreciated. B. Randall

When you open it do you see something like this: 1 FAMC @F2271@ 1 SOUR @S258@ 1 CHAN 2 DATE 5 Jul 2003 3 TIME 21:36:32 0 @I4320@ INDI 1 NAME Sarah /Rogers/ 2 SURN Rogers 2 GIVN Sarah 1 SEX F 1 BIRT 2 DATE ABT 1560 2 PLAC England 1 AFN 8THF-VS Or do you see something like this: FamilySearchâ„¢ Personal Ancestral File Temple Names Preparation Summary File: C:\Documents and Settings\default\Desktop\convert\test.ged Date: 02 Apr 2005 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Instructions: Review the information on the report for accuracy. Take your submission disk to your local Family History Center and run this file through the TempleReady program. May I suggest the following procedure instead. 1. Do not do an export for TempleReady at all. Make a backup file (by using the built-in backup program in PAF under File_Backup)and make sure it is saved to your floppy (or more than one). 2. Restore the backup on the FHC computer. 3. With the file open in PAF, go to the Tools menu and select TempleReady. 4. Select the names you want to submit and go through the TempleReady process. If you need to edit any information, do it directly in TR. Then check for matches and create the temple submission disk. 5. When TR is finished, close TR and PAF will automatically start running again. 6. IMPORTANT - At this point make a NEW backup file, take it home and restore it there (saying YES when asked if you want to overwrite the existing file), which will preserve any edits and matches done at the FHC.
