Cheryl, Word will open .rtf files directly, and many other word processors will import them. Either option will give you the expected result rather than the JAVA look. Beth

    3. The easiest way to open a ".rtf" file is to browse to the folder where it is saved (through "My Computer" or "My Documents"), and double-click on the filename. It will open in "WordPad", a simple word processing program which comes installed on any computer using Windows and will read any ".rtf" or ".txt" file. The other way to open a file is by starting in "WordPad." Click on "Start" (bottom left-hand corner of your computer), click on "All Programs", scroll to "Accessories", find "WordPad". You still have to know where the ".rtf" file was saved so you can browse to it and open it.
