It could be set as read-only, but the file I had to fix on Friday did NOT have a check in that box and we were getting the exact same error message. I had to be logged on as administrator, then right click and select properties, then security and add "everyone" as a user with access to the file and then give full control. What apparently happened is that the portable HD would not work on the FHC computer until it got installed, and the patron user login did not have sufficient privileges to install the hardware. After going to the admin login the HD worked (that is only a one-time process), but the file was saved to the drive while still on as Administrator. Administrator apparently took ownership. When she took the drive home it would not work on her computer. When she returned, testing of the file at the FHC showed it would run when I was logged on as Administrator, but not as Patron. It was only after going back to the Admin login and changing the security settings that it would run under any login. The security tab needed to access those parameters is available in XP Pro (and Windows 2000 Pro) but not XP Home. I must admit it was puzzling to have a read-error when the read-only flag was not set, and that was a new one for me. George, if the read-only attribute is not set but it still errors out, email me the file and I will try to fix it and send it back.
