    1. [PAF-5] Import Error

    3. Does anyone know what this error refers to? Level number '2' for CONT is not the same as the preceding line. Gary Templeman

    3. It sounds like the GEDCOM you are importing has been incorrectly modified by someone. Each GEDCOM line begins with a level number and a tag. In your example the level is 2 and the tag is CONT. You can open the GEDCOM in wordpad to see how it is put together. There are two types of continuation tags, CONT and CONC. The CONC tag indicates concatenation, which means that this is a continuation right in the middle of a line, not at the end. The CONT tag indicates a continuation where the previous line has ended. So the following: 1 NOTE This is the fir 2 CONC st line of a note. 2 CONT This is the secon 2 CONC d line of a note. Would be translated as: This is the first line of a note. This is the second line of a note. Most often the CONC and CONT tags are found in notes, but they are found in other places too, such as the comments on a citation. You can open the GEDCOM in wordpad and look for a line that starts with "2 CONT" and has a line right before it that starts with "3 CONT" or "3 CONC" or some level other than 2. But be aware that the first tag of a note will always be one level lower than the CONC or CONT tags.
