Hello to PAF users group, Sorry I haven't responded to the list and those who have offered help and concern about my inability to write to my PAF genealogy family program. There were several suggestions that sounded as though they should work none did - I was never able to write to my PAF program which went on the back burner. I store most of my PAF backups and other programs on a second internal harddrive for protection from spyware and viruses invading the C drive. I do have three other external hard drives which each serve a purpose and each is used for PAF backups to enhance protection. However my last backup was made only to the F drive - second internal drive. Bad stuff happened as I noticed a grinding popping noice coming from the computer. I took it in and found that the mechanical part of the F drive had malfunctioned and it had become unreadable. The computer repair people I use attempted to save anything salvagable to a new 2nd harddrive I purchased from them but none of the backups survived. I also lost thousands of photos but have duplicates for everything. To shorten a long story one of my backups to another driving had a couple hundred individuals less than the lost PAF programs so though a little miffed things could be worse. I really outfoxed myself and from now on am going to backup regularly to ALL internat and external hard drives. I do have my PAF information on RootsWeb but not information on the living to protect them. I would like to find an outside source where I can safely have a backup available. Thank you all again and it's nice to be up and running once more - after fits and starts I am now 100 percent and am typing with my fingers crossed. Sincerely, George Gildersleeve Salem on the west side
