    3. I don't think I've seen an answer to this question, so let me give it a try. I believe that when you create your new file for your cousin's line, that the new database will not start out with any sources. As you research and add information, then the source list will accumulate the sources you enter. If you export some records from your old file to a GEDCOM file, then create this new database from the GEDCOM file, then sources related to the records you export will be created in this new file.
