    3. Need a little help. I've just gone thru my PAF files to clean them up. I've deleted all of the GEDCOMs that I no longer need and the list files that went with them. That leaves me with only the various PAF databases that I use and one other kind of files. These files described as "Compressed (Zipped) Folder." There is one associated with each PAF database and one extra that doesn't associate with a datase. What are these files? And if they are something I should keep for each database, how do I delete the one that has no association. I think I deleted a database by the same name because I no longer needed it. Any help appreciated. Dick Cazier Lakewood, CO

    3. As a guess, I would say that the zipped files are back-ups. 3. It has already been mentioned that these files are backup files. The zip file with the same name as the deleted database can also be deleted as long as you are certain there is nothing in there you might ever need again. With hard drive space as big and as cheap as it is nowadays, I would not delete, but move it into a new folder named something like archives, obsolete databases, etc. While it is good to be neet and tidy, many people have regretted deleting old databases and GEDCOMs. Far better to burn them to a CD and stick it in the attic This brings up the need for another reminder about backups in general. Those zip files should not be your only backups. There should be backups of some sort made to one or more other media (flash drive, CD, etc.) AND to some off-site location.
