    3. Some people may be misinterpreting the function of the scanner. Just like the possible problem list in PAF that flags things like children born when the mother is older than a certain age, it is to alert you to *potential* problem dates, including times when extra characters and text are included in the date field. It is for you to decide if the flag is meaningful in that particular instance, just as you would decide if the woman really did have a child at age 50.
