Thanks Bill, I do that every day, sometimes, several times...It does not change the "wrong" relationship. I'm descended from these folks over 50 times...Related to them hundreds of different ways...Grandparents should "trump" Uncles.. PAF recalculates these relationships when requested to do so, it isn't updated automatically. To do so: Tools > Preferences > File > Relationship Indicators > Change > OK > OK PAF will now show the relationships on the status bar. The Relationship Calculator is a different tool from the Relationship Indicator that I have been referring to. Bill Buchanan
Maybe they should if they are on the same generation level. When there are multiple paths to the same person perhaps the one with the fewest steps should be primary. Welll, the main reason I turn that option on, is to tell which child of a family I'm descended from. In my 1st example, there were two children listed to that couple, one shows as a grandparent, one shows as an uncle..but both are actually grandparents..That;s usefull information to me, and up to recently, I counted on it being correct for my needs..Though I suppose with closer in families, it still would be as expected...Still say bug, but don't see a workaround...
