I used Challenged in one case where the adopted child was from a previous marriage to a male whose surname wasn't given me; I entered the child as if he belonged to the couple and added CHALLENGED so I'd look at the notes to see why. You may want to then clarify in the individual's notes that the 'challenge' is for parent link or some other purpose. Here (US), the word 'challenged' has often been a term used to identify an individual with 'special needs' or who has a developmental disability.
