This will be true until the end of May. I just bought mine recently to avoid Vista. I strongly recommend buying the additional warrenty for the laptop. I use mine quite a bit on the road as we travel a lot chasing dead people and the warrenty has paid for itself due to mishaps I have had. 2. You should check what the computer store sales people are telling you. Most software which will run in XP will also run in Vista. I think someone is just trying to sell you new software. 3. Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor Here is a Microsoft web page that you can use to see if you machine will accept Vista. It checks hardware, devices and programs. You need to download and run a small applet to scan your machine. Even if you are going to buy a new machine it will tell you if your programs are going to be compatible. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx Dan in Florida ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, March 03, 2008 9:54 AM Subject: Re: [PAF-5] PAF-5-USERS Digest, Vol 3, Issue 28-XP or Vista You should check what the computer store sales people are telling you.
