    3. I find that I'm having to run check file on my PAF file just about every time I add new notes, otherwise I get pointer errors in the notes, and it's beginning to bug me. I can't figure out this is happening - I keep wondering if the note files are too big, or if something is being inserted in the notes without my knowing it. Does anyone know could be causing this?? Thanks. Kathy

    3. Kathy, When my PAF file develops problems like that, I export All, create a new PAF file with a different name and import the gedcom. That way you get off to a fresh start with all new pointers. The old file can be kept as a backup. -- Bill Buchanan website: http://billbuchanan.byethost17.com blog: http://billbuchanan.blogspot.com On Fri, Nov 5, 2010 at 11:45 AM, Kathy Campbell <KatGCamp@bellsouth.net>wrote: > I find that I'm having to run check file on my PAF file just about every > time I add new notes, otherwise I get pointer errors in the notes, and it's > beginning to bug me. The old file can be kept as a backup. That's what I've been doing, but I was told that by doing that I might be messing the notes up. So far, I haven't found any notes messed up, but I keep wondering why this is happening so often now. I also wonder if it could have anything to do with cut and paste - say if you cut and paste from something on the internet, could there be some code used on some internet sites that is not compatible with PAF's note structure. As it is, I found out yesterday that a bunch of newspaper extracts that I had typed up into my notes have all disappeared. Thanks. Kathy

Stuff I /know/ I copied into the NOTES simply vanished...pages of it. Unfortunately, I didn't know that for several weeks after I put it in, when I went back to pull something out of it. :( If you figure out what's happening, please share. Like you, some of my missing material was copy'n'pasted from a webpage; some was plain-text copied from a webpage; some of keyed in by hand. I couldn't find a common denominator to what was missing, and several people assured me that I was having sequential, senior-moments with deja-vu. (g) Cheryl
