Guys'n'gals -- I have an OLD cd that has an OLD copy of someone else's OLD FTM file with images. I also have a new Win7 box. The copy of FTM I have won't install on WIN7. There is no way to get a newer copy of the file unless I can get into this one. Will anything else open it and allow me to extract/detach the images in the scrapbooks so I can get into my PAF file on the family? And, not incidentally, to verify what this person sent me is sourced to him? Cheryl
Just download the free RootsMagic Essentials. It will import the old FTM file and extract the pictures and link to them. You can then export the file to a GEDCOM to import into PAF. http://www.rootsmagic.com/essentials - Bruce http://www.rootsmagic.com On Mon, Dec 6, 2010 at 1:58 PM, singhals <singhals@erols.com> wrote: > Guys'n'gals -- > > I have an OLD cd that has an OLD copy of someone else's OLD > FTM file with images. > > I also have a new Win7 box. Well, now, that was slicker'n goose grease. Perhaps I should work with RM more and figure out where you've hidden all the good stuff (g) I had trouble figuring out which pictures there were, which added two steps I probably didn't need? What was the easier way? Cheryl RootsMagic wrote: > Just download the free RootsMagic Essentials. It will import the old > FTM file and extract the pictures and link to them.
