    3. Re: PAF Companion reports and Windows 7 Thanks to several of you for responding re: problems with Companion and charts and Windows 7. Cheryl noted that I needed Adobe or other pdf reader. I was using Adobe (version 9, I believe) that came with the computer, but still the Companion would not preview or print some of the charts. I Iooked for a way to specifiy programs and printers for Companion to use but could not find any way to solve the problem. I will try the other suggestsions that came from some of you as a result of my inquiry. An update for Adobe 9 came recently while I was on the computer and I clicked to install. The installation "failed", and I ended up with no Adobe program at all. Empty folders and no program. PDF-XChange free is a reader only. I may upgrade to the full version in order to create PDF documents. I am thinking of a family history document that combines Word, Excel, images and pdf files all in one document, and I thought that a pdf document might be the answer. In any event, the Companion still did not recognize the new PDF program I had and an attempt to preview or print some charts shut the Companion down. I had some correspondence with LDS about Windows 7 compatibility, and they recognized this problem but did not provide a certain cure. They suggested going back to an earlier version of Adobe, e.g. 7, rather than 9. I haven't done that, as described above. Thanks again. On Fri, Apr 15, 2011 at 3:00 AM, <paf-5-users-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. IIRC, the printer options in both PAF and Companion are the system defaults, but you probably already knew that? Cheryl
