Bob, With Windows7 you just need the latest version of PAF Companion. You can get it here. http://progenygenealogy.com/Downloads/PAFCompanionDownload.aspx The older versions of PAF Companion have problems with 64-bit Windows7. (Some of the knowledgebase documents used by FamilySearch support are for older versions and only add to the confusion. The suggestion to switch to Adobe Reader 7 is an example of misinformation. It is not a solution to your problem.) If you have PAF Companion version 5.2 or higher your unlock codes will work with the latest version. Bob asked "How, I pray, does one do this?" I keep the following in my Instructions folder. Try it and I think it will solve your problem. If it doesn't work then let me know? "Compatibility problems with older programs a) in Vista - Using an older program that worked well with XP but doesn’t work well with Vista, by using the Compatibility Mode Wizard. This will recreate the Windows environment for which it was designed. - click on Desktop - press F1 - in the box type in Compatibility Wizard - open it to run and in the 3 options select “I want to choose from a list of programs”, - select the program and click Next. b) in Windows 7, select - Start - Help and Support - input “Compatibility” and Enter - Select 5. Make old programs run... - Click to open the desired program compatibility... - Next - Select the PAF 5 or other program - Next and follow instructions. c) in Windows 7 right click on Program File icon and choose trouble shoot compatibility mode and follow steps. d) Either in Windows Vista or 7, if a problem occurs in PAF5, in Edit Window, where the Place field will not accept changes, or is not highlighted in Blue, an easy way to overcome it temporary: - Options - New Event/Attribute - Close - Make the change - Save" Ross GH Cotton Burlington ON CAN 905)639-2929 Skype me at - Cottonian Library Genealogy of the Cotton surname is my Enigma I haven't sent an attachment if the details aren't mentioned above GOONS member responsible for tracking the surname COTTON, #1437 Coordinator for Cotton DNA testing Project, Worldwide See http://home.comcast.net/~Cottondna/ -----Original Message----- From: Bob Demers Sent: Thursday, April 14, 2011 9:10 PM To: paf-5-users@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PAF-5] PAF 5.2 Companion - problem with some charts in Windows 7 How, I pray, does one do this? //Bob Demers/ On 4/14/2011 6:39 PM, Ross G.
