I ran the check file program in PAF and I got the following errors. File Check/Repair Report Checking Notes: 16114 records. The next pointer record does not point back to this record (13143). Checking Individuals: 6635 records. Individual 5983 Notes 13305 note previous pointer should be 13143 but is 10750. Individual 5983 Notes note pointer 13305 pointing to wrong owner (5506). Individual 5983 Notes note pointer 13515 pointing to wrong owner (5506). Individual 5983 Notes note pointer 13516 pointing to wrong owner (5506). Individual 5983 Notes note pointer 13517 pointing to wrong owner (5506). I tried to correct the notes for each of the two people but that didn't solve the problem and PAF keeps reverting to the same errors. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? It appears these errors have been in my PAF file for a very long time. I thought about deleting the two people and then re-entering them but I wanted to get some advice before I start making things worse. Thanks, Shaun

Shaun, The problem with misdirected notes pointers is caused by a bug in PAF. Using the Repair option of PAF's Check/Repair is likely to cause the loss of some notes data. The best way to fix this problem is to load the file into FamilyInsight. FamilyInsight will automatically detect the problem and repair it. Because FamilyInsight tries to repair the problem as safely as possible, you should look at the report it produces. For instance, if FamilyInsight sees that one person is claiming the notes record, but the notes record says it is owned by a different person, FamilyInsight will attach the notes to both persons and tell you in the report to go look at both persons to determine which person the notes really belong to.
