Regarding scanning large objects. I recently had a local architectural copy service scan 3600+ court house documents. They did it on a large format photocopying machine. They scanned the documents that could be loaded into the auto feed mechanism for one cent each. If the document was in poor condition as some of them were and therefore might be damaged by loading them in this manner, the charge was merely an hourly fee for the time it took the worker to hand place them on the glass. They saved them to my thumb drive from their server. We had all of those documents scanned to PDF for about $80.
