Leith Hutton www.ausbdm.org ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna Starring To: PAF-5-USERS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, March 25, 2005 9:05 AM Subject: [PAF-5] Alphabetical Listing Greetings, PAF 5 users: I seem to have lost all of my alphabetical listing except the ones with no surnames. I tried check/repair and it worked once, but when I came back in the next session, it was gone again and check/repair did not do the trick this time. I can search by RIN, but you have to know the number to search. Does anybody know how I can get my surnames back on the Alphabetical listing? Donna

    3. What report do I have to ask PAF-5 for to get a chronological list of events? I suppose some might call this a time line, but to me a time-line has the date in the middle and events on both sides, and that's not what I need/want. Cheryl

    3. That setting is under the menu path File, Print Reports. Select a tabwhich offers Other Events, like a FGS. In the small column of check boxes in the lower middle of the screen, there is a check box for Include Other Events. You can have them on or off, as you choose. 3. Is there a way to tell the PAF program that certain dates are correct and should not be listed in the Possible Problems list? I would like to be able to run that report until I get nothing listed. As it is each time I run the report I have to go through it and check off all those persons that are not really problems before I can get to the ones that might be problems. I guess I have a lot of "older" men in my data base that were still producing children after the age of 45. My own dad, for instance. :-) Helen

    3. Hi Carol. PAF does not offer a feature to do what you are asking. The total record count is the actual number of records that have been created in the database including the ones that have been marked as deleted individuals. The deleted record count is the count of records that is in the list of records that can be used when adding new individuals. PAF will not add new records to the database until it has used up all of the records in the list of those marked as deleted individuals. It is an odd way to display the counts, but then programmers are odd anyway. You can do what you are hoping to do by using the Repair and Compact feature in PAF Insight. This feature will actually remove the unused records and make the counts as you want them to be. 3. The Actual Text when you Create a source from the Edit, Source, New menu chain goes with the 'entire source' - it will be part of every citation you use after that. The Actual Text when you cite a source for an event will be tied only to that event. If you are making a unique source for that specific funeral card (instead of one source called Funeral Card and then adding specific details for the citation of that source (each person's funeral card) then you could enter it there.
