Laura You can tell PAF 5 what rules you want it to consider as possible problems in marriages. Go to Reports > Lists > Possible Problems. At the bottom of the box, click on the "Options" button. A new box will come up and you can change the values for the Mother, Father and the age difference. You can also change whether the list sorts by alphabet or RIN and you can change the sort order (like from A to Z or from Z to A or even from A to C, for example). So you could just do a part of your file at a time using the alphabet or the RIN (sort from 1 to 100, for example). If you uncheck the LDS options box, then baptismal problems, etc. will not be listed. I do not know how to stop it from telling you that a child was born before the parents were married. It seems to be really prudish about that. Alan B.

I've *used* such templates, but I've never created one. I think they can also be done in Adobe Acrobat if you have the full in$$tallion. No help there, huh? However, having used these templates, let me say this about that -- I'd sooner just set up a spreadsheet or straight type them into WP or Word. YMMV of course. Cheryl

    3. I am no expert, but I know no way to mark anything,-- but I do know: IF you want to increase ages when having children will not cause it to appear on list - or "children order errors" not appear -- do this: after you select problem list, click on options at bottom of box, you will find several things opt if computer searches for, or you can change how computer searches for them. 3. Try this for your messed-up Unknown marriage. Put the husband in the Primary Select Other Marriages, bring up the Unknown marriage Click on Add, Spouse New Person (you're going to delete her anyway, but give her at least a last name). You should be prompted for "add spouse to this marriage" - take Yes. Now your Unknown marriage has a person, and you should be able to delete the marriage and delete the 'temp' spouse as well. 3. Cheryl, I find it incredible that you can get into a marriage edit window and have the Delete option greyed out. This should not happen and it is difficult to come up with a scenario that would create it. Are you on the 5.2.18? The marriage edit screen can also be reached from the menu options - Search > Marriage List - then highlighting the particular marriage (MRIN) and pressing the Edit button - it should give exactly the same options as before - but it should be tried to be absolutely sure. If you are on 5.2.18 and the marriage has a MRIN - whether or not one of the spouses is Unknown - and PAF is preventing the use of the Delete button - then you have a major and uncommon bug. Do keep us posted as to progress. Look to the far right and see the box that is entitled "use list". Take the check out of that box and the names should now appear. 3. Hi Cheryl, Deleting an unwanted marriage record is hard to locate unless you know where to look. Put the husband in the principal position and click on the Other Marriages button. Select the Unknown spouse and click OK. Then double click on the Marriage date box between the husband and wife boxes. On the right side of the Edit Marriage window will be a Delete button. For the " Thomas" problem, PAF will automatically remove leading blanks, so what you seem to have before the T is a non-printing character embedded in the given name field. Many times this may happen if you inadvertently double strike two keys simultaneously. Usually you can eliminate the seemingly blank character by opening the Edit Individual screen and deleting the entire given name and re-entering the name. If that does not work, try deleting the entire name and re-entering it. If that does not work, then you may need to delete the record and reenter it. If there are lots of notes and sources attached to the record, I suggest you export the single record as a GEDCOM file and then delete the record. Use a text editor (Wordpad) and make sure the non-printing character did not get into the GEDCOM file. Then re-import the record and link it back up to the family. If that doesn't work, send your file to me and I'll fix it.
