Thanks for that info! I am positive Joab was born in PA, and Chloe was born in NY. They are listed on the 1850 census as living in Dryden, MI. Joab was a farmer, age 32, b. PA; Chloe a housewife, age 29, b. NY, and 8 year old Henry was listed as their son, b. PA. Henry and his wife, Lucinda are listed as living in Dryden, MI in the 1870 census along with their son, my great grandfather, Samuel Lucian Stafford; again Henry is shown to have been born in PA. Joab and Chloe are also documented in other places to be connected with Henry, listed as his parents on his tombstone, and they are also listed on his death certificate. Death dates match in both places, and his age at time of death was 30 years, 7 months, 15 days in both places. I know that there are a lot of Job Staffords, probably because Job Stafford was a famous revolutionary war figure, living in western MA (there's a monument to him near the MA/NY/VT borders). However, I'm almost certain that in 1842, at least, Joab and Chloe were living in PA, because Henry is listed as being born there in 1842. Geoff
