The 1870 census of Girard, Erie Co. PA, shows three McClelland households, as follows: James 63, farmer, b. Pa; wife Mary 59, b. NY; Helen, 28, b. PA. Next door is Alexander 37, farmer, Mary E. 27, William B. 7 mos., and Cardiff 48, also a farmer, all b. PA; plus a farm laborer and a domestic servant in the household (differeent last names). On the preceding page, Wm. McClelland, 68, farmer, b. PA, Mercy A. 60, b. MA, plus a farm laborer and his wife (?) and child (?).
