    2. The following was found in a family scrapbook. The newspaper is not named. There is no date. A.C. MILLER AUGUSTUS C. MILLER, nearly a lifelong resident of Girard township, died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Sextus SHIPMAN, in North Girard, February 8, 1925. Mr. MILLER was the youngest son of James and Majory MILLER and was born in Girard township, October 17, 1838. He was married to Emily HARRIS 63 years ago at Girard. To this union there were born six children, five of whom are still living, the eldest, Mrs. May HOUGHTON, having died in 1919. Those living are Mrs. L.E. SALISBURY of Mason, Michigan; Mrs. L.D. VAN TASSEL of Alvin, Texas; Mr. Rush MILLER and Mrs. S.E. SHIPMAN of North Girard, and Mr. Norton MILLER of Erie. There are also six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. MILLER was educated at Fredonia, New York, at the Fredonia academy which at that time was the popular and noted school of this section. After graduation he became a teacher, following that profession for several years. Later he became a farmer, working the farm which had been in the family for one hundred years. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Masonic fraternity which order attended the funeral in a body and had charge of the services at the grave. Mr. MILLER was a life long student, independent in his thinking, yet with the utmost respect for the opinions of other men, charitable in his judgements, yet making no compromise in questions of honor. His religion was to put in operation in daily life the Golden Rule. Theologically he was a Universalist. The funeral services were conducted at North Girard, PA., February 11, at 2. p.m. by Rev. Herbert H. Graves, minister of the Universalist church at Girard. Interment was in the Girard Cemetery. I hope this obit is helpful to someone. Georgia Whitson
