    3. If your friend was going to school in downtown Erie, then she probably was attending Mercyhurst College. I believe in 1968 this was still primarily, if not all, female catholic school, along with Villa Maria College which was incorporated into Gannon University. Gannon, I believe was still primarily a men's college in 1968, although this may have been about the time they started admitting women. If your friend was attending college in Erie County, but not in the city itself, chances are she attended Edinboro State University which may still have been known as Edinboro State Teachers College, as I am not sure when the name change was made. Was your friend a Pennsylvania resident? Edinboro was a state college, so a lot of residents wanting to be teachers went there. There is also the Behrend Campus of Penn State University which I think in 1968 was considered a Junior College, or the preliminary to attending the main campus. This was also a state school so PA residents paid less money for tuition. Gannon has a web site, and I believe the other's do also if you want to do an Internet search.
