    1. [PAERIE] Prohibiton Era in Erie County...
    2. Hello, I've been reading a little about the Prohibition Era on the internet, because I found out that "Lake Erie" was used to smuggle liquor from Canada to the USA and that rumrunners hung out on those islands drinking & gambling. My great-grandfather, Daniel Caughlin, lived in Erie County from at least 1900 to abt. 1923 when he was last seen. His lifestyle and reputation would have fit right in with the profile of a bootlegger. I'm still trying to find out about his death & have exhausted the usual routes. The timing of his disappearance, his reputation, and the smuggling activities that were taking place on Lake Erie has caused me to want to research this angle some more. Does anyone have information about the Prohibition Era in relation to citizens of Erie County (i.e. arrests, unsolved deaths, etc.)? Or does anyone know where I should look for this info? Thanks so much!! Sincerely, Stacey
