    3. Good afternoon to all from (believe it or not) snowing Erie. Luckily though, it's not sticking.... Anyway - here's my line and perpetual dilemma. I have puttered with this line for awhile now seemingly getting nowhere. This is my only line that doesn't go back further than this generation and I am bound and determined to crack this case yet. Can someone out there PLEASE help steer me in the right direction?! Andrew SKOWRONSKI (cir. 1848-1940's) and Antoinette (Anna) (b. cir 1853) i. Frank b.cir. 1878 in Germany ii. Ignatius b.cir. 1882 in Germany iii. Victoria b.cir. 1885 in NY + James Osborne in Ohio iv. Rosie b.cir. 1887 in NY d. 1962 +1 Zygai +2 Walter Wisinski v. Catherine b.cir. 1890 in PA d. 1971 + George Fromknecht vi. Frances b.cir. 1890 in PA never married vii. William b.cir. 1893 in PA d. 1954 + Kathryn Wolf viii. John b.cir. 1896 in PA d. 1969 + Frances Derde Catherine is my father-in-law's mother. >From the naturalization index - Andrew immigrated in 1878. For the 4 children of which death dates are listed, I have found obits in the Erie papers. I have found both of Rosie's marriage records. And that of John's. I have been unsuccessful at finding my husband's grandparents marriage record, and I've searched a variety of spellings! I have been unable to locate an obit for Andrew, Anna or the oldest two boys. Frances reportedly lived most of her life in a 'home' and was a "simple, happy girl" as my father-in-law tells it. Victoria moved to Ohio... Of the 3 marriage records I have, only one lists the mother's maiden name and I believe this to be wrong, as a simple search in the browser or even the SSDI shows no hits. I have found the family in the 1910 (Erie city), 1920 (Erie city) and 1930 (Venango Twp)censuses. The older two boys seemed to remain at home, presumably unmarried. Also Andrew and his wife appear in the City Directories up to the year 1940 (back in Erie City). I have yet to find them in 1900, nor 1880 (I am not sure what part of New York they lived) I have been to Trinity and Calvary and also have spoken with them over the phone. There are no records of Andrew or Anna there. Not even in the Polish Section. They were Catholic. I have sent off for Andrew's death record - unsuccessfully as I don't have his year of death, although I believe they will do a search for a fee. Last year I ventured a trip to the courthouse than on to City Hall to look up the younger, PA born, children's births, only to be referred to the Historical Society. Although by this point my lunch hour was over and was time to head back. So Monday - 'nuther day. Head on down there only to find out they were closed.... Really I should do a bit more researching before I waste all my lunch hours. Anyway... I never did go back after that and this quite possibly could be my key. But anyway - my point. If you have any ideas of where I should look next PLEASE let me know. I have two young boys under two and find limited time for my research these days, but I am determined to get back in the swing of things. Hopefully this can be just the spark to get me going again. 3. Marian, I would not look any further for this family in the 1880 US census. Both Andrew and Anna told subsequent census takers that they came to the US in 1882.
