Several of you have asked about my Mom. She had open heart surgery on Wednesday to replace a valve. The surgery was difficult and they had a hard time restarting her heart, but she is now doing fine. She is still on the ventilator, but they have her sitting up and standing. My Dad is concerned that he is not getting the registration in her eyes that he would like to see (more like a blank stare), but the doctors do not seem concerned. She cannot talk with the ventilator in of course. They are going to try and remove it tomorrow. The doctors are quite pleased with her recovery so far...they had reservations doing the operation given her age (79) and her weakened condition. But all of her vitals are AOK. My Dad says she looks like she got hit with a truck! :) She had the same operation on her other valve 10 years ago and recovered fine which I believe she will this time too...it will just take a little longer. She is tough. Thanks to those of you who kept her in your prayers and have asked about her. I really appreciate it.
