Pennsylvania did not require the reporting of deaths until 1906. Therefore, no death certificates before then. If you are looking simply to document a death there are other sources: the courthouse in Erie has some death records 1892-1906. The Erie Society for Genealogical Research has an index to births, marriages and deaths printed in Erie newspapers 1822-1906. Another source is church records. Wills and other estate papers can offer clues. If simple documentation is what you want, respond to the list. I am sure other people can offer more ideas.
